CLASS NEWS

Seniors, Mrs. Courtney and a representative from MASSEDCO will be available afterschool Wednesday, January 9th to assist you with college and scholarship applications. Please report to the Alden Academy office.

CLUBS

Calling all stage hands, sounds, ands lights people and future DJs! The A/V Club is off and running. We will be meeting Wednesday January 9th, right after school in the auditorium. The A/V club will familiarize students on the use of stage lighting , sound control and DJ equipment, including various types of video equipment. The club is open to anyone interested, no experience is necessary. For more information, please see Mr. Torres in room C309

The Human Rights Club is starting a New Sock drive for homeless veterans of Worcester all month! Please bring in new pairs of socks to donate to the drop box in room D430

The drama club will hold auditions for Radium Girls today after school and callbacks will be held Wednesday January 9th in the auditorium. See Mr. Gemme in B111 for any questions.

Knitting is Tuesday in RM A157 with Mrs. Caplan supplies are free, we meet til 3pm

GENERAL

Attention any 10th or 11th grade male interested in the 100 males to college program, with teacher approval, please come to the library second period for a presentation.

“It’s Time to Take A Stand” : Please join us on Tuesday, Jan. 8th from 1:45- 3:45PM to watch the “Bully” movie as part of our “Stand For the Silent” program in the auditorium. All are welcome and must sign in and complete an exit slip at the end of the movie. Students who participate may also use this opportunity for detentions, attendance and Buy Back

As of today student’s lunches will be going up to $1.75 that is for your second lunch if you choose for more. Also for teachers the price for lunch will now be $3.75.

Woo Tech, Tech’s Got Talent tickets are going to be sold at lunches starting Today in the cafeteria the tickets will be five dollars in advance and seven dollars at the door. Tech’s Got Talent will be held on Friday, January 11th in the auditorium from 6 to 8pm

Model UN will meet on Tuesday from 2-2:30 in room D343

GUIDANCE

Saturday Buyback starts this Saturday in the Library. Students attending must report to the main lobby by 8am with school work. See Mr. Healey or your guidance counselor with questions.

SPORTS

Friday, January 11th will be the WINTER SPORTS TEAM PICTURE DAY in the Gym right a 2 pm SHARP! Winter Coaches please notify your athletes to be dressed in uniform and in the gym at this time so that the picture process will run smoothly. Order forms will be distributed to the coaches shortly.

The wrestling team had its first victory on Saturday against East Longmeadow with all 5 competitors winning their match. Mac Ekeh won his first match by pin in the second period and went 2 and 3 on the day. Alayjah Lane also won her match with the same record. Congratulations to all the competitors!

On Saturday a number of our track athletes compete in the US Army Hispanic Games in New York, Emmanuele Dokyi placed 6th in the High Jump, Eric Shimiyimana placed 6th in the triple jump with a school record jump, Shawna Thomas and Juliette Tarnuzer also set school records in the 200 and 800 Great performances by all out athletes.
