February is Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, which is an annual observance in the United States during the month of February, each day on the message boards a famous African American will be displayed along with a short biography. You will also read and learn more about other famous African Americans in history class this month.
African-American boxer Joe Louis, who reigned as world heavyweight champion from 1937 until 1949, is regarded as one of his sport’s all-time greats. Born in Alabama in 1914, Joe Louis became boxing’s heavyweight champion with his defeat of James J. Braddock in 1937. Nicknamed the “Brown Bomber,” his knockout of Germany’s Max Schmeling in 1938 made him a national hero, and he established a record by retaining the championship for nearly 12 years. After boxing, Louis endured financial problems while working as a referee and a casino greeter. He died of cardiac arrest in 1981.

Worcester Tech, please help our student council fundraise for our annual polar plunge in Cape Cod. There will be a jar in the office, Cafe, and Skyline Bistro for your donations. All the money raised will go to the Special Olympics. Any amount you want to donate is greatly appreciated! The last day to donate is March 5th.

All PERIOD 2 A week academic, related and shop teachers
Field trip forms and list of your students have be placed in Period 2 academic and shop teachers
A week period 2 teachers and shop teachers will distribute permission forms on Monday, February 25th to your 2nd period class or shop (period 1-8).
Use the class roster as a check-off for returns.
Please hold all returned forms until Friday, March 1rd
The completed check off list must be returned to Marisol Gonzalez in the Allied Health Academy office by the end of 2nd period on March 1rd
There is Saturday Buy Back this week. Students need to report to the main lobby by 8am with school work.
