The Veterinary Assisting program at WTHS is designed to prepare students for careers as veterinary assistants, working with a variety of animals in different settings.

This program combines field investigation, laboratory analysis, report writing, and summary presentations to develop technical and college preparatory skills necessary for employment in the competitive, and ever-growing environmental science field.
Increased Demand in a Growing Field
According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), professions in environmental science are expected to grow at rates of 15-29% by 2022, which is significantly faster than other occupations, which are growing at rates of <5% (BLS). Starting salaries range from $38,000 to $118,000 depending initial certifications and experience.

The Allied Health Program provides students with the theory and skill competencies to be successful in the health care field . The goal of the program is the completion of clinical and employability skills for entry-level positions in the health care industry. Successful program completions include CPR/AED/First Aid, a 10-hour OSHA General Industry certification. Certifications can include a Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide and the option of being certified as an EMT-Basic. Students can earn up to seven dual enrollment credits from Quinsigamond Community College through an on campus EMT program.
Cosmetology is a challenging, rewarding profession that offers the opportunity for artistic expression as well as financial security for male/female students who are self-motivated, innovative and ambitious, there is no limit to your potential. The entire field of cosmetology includes hair dressing, esthetics (skin care), nails (manicures/pedicures) and make-up.
The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to work with young children birth through eight years old in a variety of capacities. Students enrolled in the ECE program follows a rigorous curriculum that prepares them for post secondary education at two and four year colleges. Successful graduates from the program may be eligible to receive certification from the Department of Early Education and Care as “teacher qualified” in private early education and care settings
